PNM’s Phil Nichols Awarded 2018 Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law in Los Angeles by Best Lawyers
Pircher, Nichols & Meeks LLP (Pircher), a national real estate law firm with offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, announced today that one of its founding members, Phillip G. Nichols, has been named Lawyer of the Year for Real Estate Law in Los Angeles by Best Lawyers®. Mr. Nichols was previously honored with this award in 2012 and has been recognized by Best Lawyers® since 2001.
Recognition by Best Lawyers® is based entirely on peer review and the consensus opinion of leading lawyers in an individual’s practice area and geographical region. Only one attorney is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” for each specialty and location.
“Beyond Phil’s dedication to the LA legal community for more than four decades, his passion for learning and ability to effectively negotiate and communicate are what distinguish him,” said Stevens Carey, one of Pircher’s original partners and recipient of Lawyer of the Year in 2015. “He has been key to building Pircher’s reputation in the market as a firm committed to ensuring comprehensive and thoughtful legal work for notable real estate transactions. We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
“It’s an honor to once again be recognized by my peers and industry leaders in the field of real estate law,” said Mr. Nichols. “I am proud to represent Pircher with this award.”
Earlier this year, Mr. Nichols was also recognized as “Outstanding Real Estate Attorney” at the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s (LACBA) 19th Annual Real Property Installation & Awards Dinner on June 21. The event honored some of the top legal minds in the real estate industry. With over 18,000 members, LACBA is one of the largest voluntary metropolitan bar associations in the nation.
As one of Pircher’s founding members and senior counsel, Mr. Nichols focuses on commercial real estate joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions, in addition to other complex real estate-related matters.
Mr. Nichols is an active member of the Los Angeles legal community. He served as co-chair of the USC Gould School of Law’s annual Real Estate Law and Business Forum from 2008 to 2017, and will again co-chair the Forum in 2018. Mr. Nichols is an adjunct professor at the USC Gould School of Law, where he teaches courses, limited to 10 students each, on real estate joint ventures and on real estate purchase agreements for commercial real property. He is a member of the Real Estate section of LACBA and the Real Estate section of the State Bar of California. Mr. Nichols holds a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. Prior to his legal career, Nichols served in the United States Marine Corps for two years.
A fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), Mr. Nichols will be speaking at the organization’s 2017 Annual Meeting, Oct. 19-22, 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. ACREL is the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers that elects distinguished, nationally-known lawyers to fellowship on account of outstanding legal ability, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law.
